Rossome Celebrations
We have so many things to celebrate this week!

  • As a school, we've completed around 2,500 I-Ready lessons. Our top I-Ready students are Tyler L., Carter T., Holland L., Tyson T., Rozlynn G., Wyatt D., and Grace G.
  • Several students had a special lunch with Principal Tripp on Thursday because they were nominated by their peers as the most Compassionate kids in their class. Thanks to the CAST Student and Staff Support Team for planning this event!
  • CAST students have sold over $5000 in chocolate bars in the last two weeks. CAST students will choose what to use this money for that will make Ross a better place for kids. Sales continue until Nov. 4.
  • Our Jog-a-Thon totals are in: Ross kids earned over $7000 this year! That's almost double what they earned last year. All money goes to support students and teachers, including Field Trips (like Wagons Ho and Starbase), recess equipment, and teacher grants for classroom activities. Our top earning class was Mrs. Marshall's class and they got to have a Silly String Fight with Mrs. Tripp on Wednesday. Spoiler alert--Mrs. Tripp won! Check out the video!
  • In addition, two of our office staff, Teri Husted and Brenna Erickson, received Kuna Way Awards from Superintendent Bekkedahl due to their excellent work with parents, staff, and students.
  • Lunch Clubs have started, and kids are loving their time together during Lunch Recess. 4th graders propose and lead these Lunch Clubs with the help of Rossome parent volunteers. They've already learned to sew, created rubber band bracelets, and done a Fall art project. Next week, they can learn to play D&D, learn about Space, and help with School Store.

So much to celebrate at Ross this week. We're so proud to be a part of such a strong school community and we know you, as parents, help make this possible.

AVID definition: moving up through your own hard work
At Ross, we believe that all students can learn at high levels!
Ross is pretty special! We are an AVID Nationwide Demonstration School, one of only a few in the nation.

What does it mean to be an AVID school? As an AVID school, we believe that all students can be prepared for their next level of learning. AVID stands for Advancement via Individual Determination, which means we support students in moving up through their own hard work. We believe that every student can learn at high levels (grade level or higher) and we use all kinds of strategies to help students become their best learning selves and be prepared for their future--middle school and beyond!

Cell Phones and Smart Watches
ross is a learning zone
Ross is a Learning Zone!
Ross is a learning zone. We want to have uninterrupted instruction time and we want kids to be able to play with each other.

For that reason, we have any students with cell phones leave them in their backpacks during the school day (except for medical uses). Smart watches can be used as watches or tools (example: the calculator function), but not as a cell phone (example: texting).

Please help us protect instruction and social interaction time for our Rossome kids!

Attendance Matters
Attendance Matters
In order to learn best, students need to be here for instruction. Thanks so much for helping us get to 94% attendance this week.

See the graphic below for details about how absences add up to so much missed instruction over time.

We want each student to be massively successful and ready for their futures. We love them!
