Students are growing like crazy on their Math skills
Students have been working hard to increase their Math skills! We want to see every student grow more than 1 year in their Math skills this year, and they are on track for that.

Together, students have completed over 4,000 I-Ready lessons this year!

Our top students for lessons completed in the last month are:
  • Aryn W. (23 lessons)
  • Taisley S. (23 lessons)
  • Lakynn B. (22 lessons)
  • Holland L. (20 lessons)
  • Logan A. (19 lessons)
  • Weston E. (19 lessons)
  • Tyler C. (17 lessons)
  • Domenik G. (17 lessons)
  • Dean L. (16 lessons)

Also, 120 students (about half of Ross students) completed their I-Ready Punch Cards in the last month and had Pizza with the Principal during afternoon recess!

We're so proud of how hard students are working to grow their brains. They will be ready for middle school and their future lives, which is what we want for them.

How can you help at home?
  • Pay attention to the Parent Letters that teachers send home with kids. They tell the skills that students are working on during class and give suggestions for how to support students.
  • Have students log onto and complete I-Ready lessons over break through Clever--they each know how to do this. The lessons are individualized so each student gets exactly what Math skills they most need work on. And, the games are pretty fun too!
  • Ask your student what their I-Ready goal is. Each student sets a goal and helps track their progress towards their goals.

AVID definition: moving up through your own hard work
At Ross, we believe that all students can learn at high levels!
Ross is pretty special! We are an AVID Nationwide Demonstration School, one of only a few in the nation.

What does it mean to be an AVID school? As an AVID school, we believe that all students can be prepared for their next level of learning. AVID stands for Advancement via Individual Determination, which means we support students in moving up through their own hard work. We believe that every student can learn at high levels (grade level or higher) and we use all kinds of strategies to help students become their best learning selves and be prepared for their future--middle school and beyond!

Cell Phones and Smart Watches
ross is a learning zone
Ross is a Learning Zone!
Ross is a learning zone. We want to have uninterrupted instruction time and we want kids to be able to play with each other.

For that reason, we have any students with cell phones leave them in their backpacks during the school day (except for medical uses). Smart watches can be used as watches or tools (example: the calculator function), but not as a cell phone (example: texting).

Please help us protect instruction and social interaction time for our Rossome kids!

Attendance Matters
Attendance Matters
In order to learn best, students need to be here for instruction. Thanks so much for helping us get to 94% attendance this week.

See the graphic below for details about how absences add up to so much missed instruction over time.

We want each student to be massively successful and ready for their futures. We love them!
