Teacher Appreciation Week

As we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week next week, I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible hearts and hands that make our school the special place it is.

Here at Ross, every adult on campus is a teacher—not just by title, but by action, by care, and by example. Whether in a classroom, the front office, the cafeteria, the library, or out on the playground, our staff show up every day with one goal: to help children feel seen, supported, and inspired to grow.

They teach with their words and their kindness. They guide with patience and passion. And above all, they love your children—not just for who they are, but for all they are becoming.

We are proud of the joyful and engaging learning environment we work hard to build together. This week, and every week, we celebrate our amazing team—and the shared commitment we all hold to give our students the very best.

Consider sending a message to your child's teacher this week to show them how much you appreciate them.

Thank you!
Principal Tripp

Updates for our school community

As you may have seen from the district message earlier this week, boundaries changes are being proposed to the board to help with overcrowding at Reed and Silver Trails since the levy didn't pass. Should the board approve these changes, we will welcome some new families to Ross.

We are excited to grow and welcome new friends to our building. We will be all filled up! We are confident that they will have a great learning experience and enjoy the leadership opportunities they will have through AVID, Lunch Clubs, and CAST.

Here's a link to the district message that was sent out with the proposed boundary map.

Below is the graphic we sent to our proposed new families to help them get to know Ross Elementary. We will host an Welcome to Ross Night for them on Monday, May 5 from 6:30-7:30 with some of our CAST students there to help tour students and answer any questions.

AVID definition: moving up through your own hard work

At Ross, we believe that all students can learn at high levels!

Ross is pretty special! We are an AVID Nationwide Demonstration School, one of only a few in the nation.

What does it mean to be an AVID school? As an AVID school, we believe that all students can be prepared for their next level of learning. AVID stands for Advancement via Individual Determination, which means we support students in moving up through their own hard work. We believe that every student can learn at high levels (grade level or higher) and we use all kinds of strategies to help students become their best learning selves and be prepared for their future--middle school and beyond!

Cell Phones and Smart Watches

ross is a learning zone

Ross is a Learning Zone!

Ross is a learning zone. We want to have uninterrupted instruction time and we want kids to be able to play with each other.

For that reason, we have any students with cell phones leave them in their backpacks during the school day (except for medical uses). Smart watches can be used as watches or tools (example: the calculator function), but not as a cell phone (example: texting).

Please help us protect instruction and social interaction time for our Rossome kids!
