Pre K students start Tuesday

Please be patient at Drop Off and Pick Up

Our littlest Rams start on Tuesday.

Follow signs and staff directions to ensure the safety of all our students. See more information and a bigger map below.

Also, if you need to park your car and walk to pick up your child, make sure to park further down School Street, to the north of the school. Do not park in the pick up line and leave your car or park in the spots in the bus line--you might get stuck behind buses and have to wait if you do.

Thank you!

AVID and Living the Ross Values

This week was a great first full week of school.

Students put together their AVID binders. They started taking notes in their binders, practiced our Ross school expectations for recess, cafeteria, etc., and did lots of get-to-know you activities.

Teachers have started sending out weekly learning updates so you can support the learning at home.

This week, students focused on living our Ross values of:
  • Leadership
  • Compassion
  • Community
  • Innovation
Staff members gave our tickets to those students who were living those values at lunch, in the hallways, during recess, and around campus. Students who received tickets were able to trade them in during Friday afternoon recess for prizes as a thank you for living the values so well.

We had a great start to this year, and we know our students will be able to "Climb High and Enjoy the View!"

Love,
Mrs. Tripp
AVID definition: moving up through your own hard work

I keep hearing about AVID. What is AVID?

Ross is pretty special! We are an AVID Nationwide Demonstration School, one of only a few in the nation.

What does it mean to be an AVID school? As an AVID school, we believe that all students can be prepared for their next level of learning. AVID stands for Advancement via Individual Determination, which means we support students in moving up through their own hard work. We believe that every student can learn at high levels (grade level or higher) and we use all kinds of strategies to help students become their best learning selves and be prepared for their future--middle school and beyond!

Drop Off/ Pick Up Reminders--Pre K starts Tuesday

  • Safety of your child(ren) is our priority. Please pick up and drop off your child in the designated areas.
  • Be patient, especially as we start the school year and the pick/up drop off routines are new to many families. We will have staff to support you and others outside.
  • No drop off/pick up in the bus lane.
  • Drop off may begin no earlier than 8:30am.
  • Pick up line will be along School Avenue from the south of the school to the entry into the parking lot. Do not park and leave your car along School Avenue from 3:00-3:45pm when school pick up is done.
  • If you need to park for pick up, please park on School Avenue to the north of the parking lot entrance so you don't block the pick up line.
  • Pull forward as far as you can. At the end of the day, students will be waiting for your car to arrive near the front of the line to load in your car.
  • Use designated cross walks to access the parking lot or playgrounds.
  • Call the office by 2:00pm if there will be a change in the way your child will normally go home so the teacher can be made aware.

Cell Phones and Smart Watches

ross is a learning zone

Ross is a Learning Zone!

Ross is a learning zone. We want to have uninterrupted instruction time and we want kids to be able to play with each other.

For that reason, we have any students with cell phones leave them in their backpacks during the school day (except for medical uses). Smart watches can be used as watches or tools (example: the calculator function), but not as a cell phone (example: texting).

Please help us protect instruction and social interaction time for our Rossome kids!
