Ross Highlights

IBOB Battles have begun!

IBOB Battles are in full swing, and teams battle during lunch recesses in the Library. There's been some very high scores so far, and it shows how much the students have invested in the reading and teamwork that makes a great IBOB team.

Results coming soon as the battles continue!

Winners of the KSD Career Fair Raffle

Three of our awesome students won raffle prizes at the KSD Career Fair this week.

Congrats to Lyla, Dominic, and Vaughan!!

Pen Pal Club

Pen Pal Club today wrote letters to teachers at Indian Creek and Hubbard, Mayor Stear, and President Trump.

There was a huge turnout today as they wrote letters and sang along to Little Mermaid and Baby Shark.

Coin Wars continue next week!

This year, it's 4th grade vs. 5th grade vs. Pre K!!! The winning grade level will get a movie afternoon on March 13 with popcorn to finish out the school day prior to Spring Break.

Bring silver coins to sabotage other grade levels, bills to earn points for your grade, and pennies to score points for your grade.

The grade level containers will be in the cafeteria/gym every day before school and during lunch.

All money earned will go to purchased recess activities (new tetherballs, new games, etc.) that CAST students will help determine.

Golden Spoon Awards

Classes are working hard to earn Golden Spoons in the cafeteria. Each time a class gets 5 5-star days in the cafeteria, they earn a new Golden Spoon to add to their bouquet. Thanks for all the parent donations of spoons, spatulas, and other old kitchen utensils--keep them coming!

This week's Golden Spoon classes are:
  • Mrs. Gambill--3rd time
  • Mrs. Marshall--7th time
  • Mrs. Angle--6th time
  • Mrs. Hassel--5th time
  • Mrs. Harding--5th time
  • Mrs. Johnson--6th time

Note from Principal Tripp for parents on vaping

I'm sorry to report that we've been hearing some talk about potential vaping with some of our 5th graders this week. If I've talked with your child about it, you've been contacted. We are always sorry to find 4th and 5th graders each year that are already addicted to vaping.

Most of them, when caught, report that they "found it" on the way to school, often near the cemetery. Many initially say they were "just holding it for a friend" before the truth comes out. And some report that they find mostly-used vapes in their parents' or friends' parents cars that they take and finish using.

Please consider having a conversation with your child about vaping this week.

Reach out to me with any questions.

Attendance Matters

Attendance matters information about how missing days of school adds up over time.

Cell phones and smart watches

ross is a learning zone

Ross is a Learning Zone!

Ross is a learning zone. We want to have uninterrupted instruction time and we want kids to be able to play with each other.

For that reason, we have any students with cell phones leave them in their backpacks during the school day (except for medical uses). Smart watches can be used as watches or tools (example: the calculator function), but not as a cell phone (example: texting).

If a student is using their phone or smart watch while on campus, we have them bring it to the office for the rest of the day. If they do it a second time, we have them bring it to the office and keep it there for a parent to pick up.

Please help us protect instruction and social interaction time for our Rossome kids!

Drop Off and Pick Up Reminders

An image with the word 'Important' and drop-off/pick-up reminders.

Drop Off/ Pick Up Reminders

  • Safety of your child(ren) is our priority. Please pick up and drop off your child in the designated areas.
  • Be patient, especially as we start the school year and the pick/up drop off routines are new to many families. We will have staff to support you and others outside.
  • No drop off/pick up in the bus lane.
  • Drop off may begin no earlier than 8:30am.
  • Pick up line will be along School Avenue from the south of the school to the entry into the parking lot. Do not park and leave your car along School Avenue from 3:00-3:45pm when school pick up is done.
  • If you need to park for pick up, please park on School Avenue to the north of the parking lot entrance so you don't block the pick up line.
  • Pull forward as far as you can. At the end of the day, students will be waiting for your car to arrive near the front of the line to load in your car.
  • Use designated cross walks to access the parking lot or playgrounds.
  • Call the office by 2:00pm if there will be a change in the way your child will normally go home so the teacher can be made aware.
