Ross Highlights

LEGO League Competition Saturday, April 11

Our Ross LEGO League teams helped each other prepare for the district Expo on Saturday. Over 30 teams from elementary schools in our district will present the project that they have been creating all season long.

Huge thanks to Mrs. Rasmussen and her co-coach, Mr. Rasmussen, for helping students get ready. Also, huge thanks to our student coaches, past competitors, who have helped them get ready as well.

AVID in Action Family Breakfast was AMAZING!

Thanks to all those who came and participated! We had over 300 people come. It was so fun to see our students become the teachers with their adults as families worked through the stations together.

See more pictures and posts of families memories on Facebook.

Raffle winners were drawn this afternoon and will be announced on Monday to students.

Pre K Gets a Sandbox

One of our Rossome Pre K staff, Mrs. Ybarra, got a grant from PTA to purchase a sandbox for our Pre K students.

Two 5th graders, Seaborn and Kaysen, put it together so students can enjoy it for years to come. (And yes, for those who are worried about cats using it, there is a cover). :)

Huge thanks also to the Kincheloe family who are donating a whole load of play sand to fill the sandbox. What a gift for our littlest Rams!

If you'd like to help as well, please feel free to donate a bag of play sand to our school to refill it as students play.

Golden Spoon Awards

Classes are working hard to earn Golden Spoons in the cafeteria. Each time a class gets 5 5-star days in the cafeteria, they earn a new Golden Spoon to add to their bouquet. Thanks for all the parent donations of spoons, spatulas, and other old kitchen utensils--keep them coming!

This week's Golden Spoon classes are:
  • Mrs. Hunter
  • Mrs. Johnson
  • Mrs. Marshall
  • Mrs. Angle
  • Mrs. Hassel
  • Mrs. Harding

Family Event Calendar

Ross/Indian Creek PTA Carnival, April 24, 5:00-7:00pm

We have a chili feed, hot dog dinner, and games and booths to explore, including a petting zoo! Power Dance will also be at the carnival. This year, the carnival will be at Indian Creek Elementary (we trade off on locations every other year).

Watch for fliers coming home next week in your child's backpack to pre-buy tickets and save the wait in line.

Cost is $5 per person or $20 per family to participate in all events. Feel free to bring extra money for the bake sale as well.

All proceeds go directly to support classrooms at Ross and Indian Creek.

See the ParentSquare sign up from PTA to enter the chili cook off or to bring items for the bake sale.

Attendance Matters

Attendance matters information about how missing days of school adds up over time.

Cell phones and smart watches

ross is a learning zone

Ross is a Learning Zone!

Ross is a learning zone. We want to have uninterrupted instruction time and we want kids to be able to play with each other.

For that reason, we have any students with cell phones leave them in their backpacks during the school day (except for medical uses). Smart watches can be used as watches or tools (example: the calculator function), but not as a cell phone (example: texting).

If a student is using their phone or smart watch while on campus, we have them bring it to the office for the rest of the day. If they do it a second time, we have them bring it to the office and keep it there for a parent to pick up.

Please help us protect instruction and social interaction time for our Rossome kids!

Drop Off and Pick Up Reminders

An image with the word 'Important' and drop-off/pick-up reminders.

Drop Off/ Pick Up Reminders

  • Safety of your child(ren) is our priority. Please pick up and drop off your child in the designated areas.
  • Be patient, especially as we start the school year and the pick/up drop off routines are new to many families. We will have staff to support you and others outside.
  • No drop off/pick up in the bus lane.
  • Drop off may begin no earlier than 8:30am.
  • Pick up line will be along School Avenue from the south of the school to the entry into the parking lot. Do not park and leave your car along School Avenue from 3:00-3:45pm when school pick up is done.
  • If you need to park for pick up, please park on School Avenue to the north of the parking lot entrance so you don't block the pick up line.
  • Pull forward as far as you can. At the end of the day, students will be waiting for your car to arrive near the front of the line to load in your car.
  • Use designated cross walks to access the parking lot or playgrounds.
  • Call the office by 2:00pm if there will be a change in the way your child will normally go home so the teacher can be made aware.
